Bombardier is a North American company that was founded over sixty years ago in Canada, coming to the states after making their first snowmobile. They offer a comprehensive range of utility and recreational quads ranging from 50cc up to 650cc.
The new generation Bombardier DS650 Baja-X offers unique factory-built performance to make it the fastest production quad available. It features a powerful 653cc Rotax engine which, at the time of its creation, had the most horsepower of anything commercially available. The liquid-cooled four-stroke engine runs quite smoothly but does tend to make a little more internal noise than most water-cooled engines. It other quads, like high pressure gas shocks, an Auto Meter RPM gauge, lots of auxiliary lighting, handguards, nerf bars and skid-plates to protect the underside, A-arms and swing-arm. It doesn't skimp on comfort, either. The seats were built with power in mind. It is fully aware that it is one of the fastest, most powerful quads on the market, and it remains comfortable even when picking up speed. Independent A-arm suspension is some of the best and most stable on the market. Offering a huge 305mm of travel, the front shocks are quite adjustable. At the rear a single monoshock suspends from a large swingarm and provides 279mm of travel. The rear unit is also fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression. The high-rise suspension combines with a long and wide body to give the Bombardier an almost menacing stance. Ground clearance is 297mm under the front and engine and 120mm under the rear axle. There's a reason that a lot of reviews for this machine tend to end with it being called one of the best ATVs on the market. Bombardier's slogan is, "Follow No One", and when it comes to the DS650, they most certainly do not. |
