Two-Seaters Built for Speed

A big trend that's making waves in the ATV market is the two-seater. Consumers have sent out the call, and big brands are answering with new ATVs, UTVs and RSVs that deliver the same punch of a single-capacity ATV but allow for a driver and passenger to enjoy the ride.

It seems like everyone's stepping up to the plate lately. Kawasaki's Teryx 750 4x4 is definitely of note, finding a good balance between power and utility. The 749cc V-twin engine is directly from their proven Brute Force ATV, with options to switch from 2wd to 4wd at the push of a button. Side-by-side bucket seats with seat belts provide for a comfortable and safe ride, and front-mounted dual 200cm disc brakes give the driver full control in a hairy situation. With all this power and control, Kawasaki has installed gas-powered shocks to keep you and your passenger from bumping your heads on uneven terrain. The Teryx 750 can carry a 500-lb load, with a Limited Edition featuring a tilting bed for ease of use.

For a different twist on the two-seater, take a look at the Bombadier Outlander Max. This quad features a riding style more similar to a motorcycle, with the driver in front and the passenger straddling a seat in the rear. The layout is more spacious than a motorcycle though, and the rear seat can be removed to make room for luggage space. A brutal 800cc engine means insane speeds while you offroad with a reliable CVT transmission providing a smooth ride as you go.

Finally, if you're still thirsting for speed and you need a companion, the Ridge Runner RTX800 might be for you. More akin to a dune buggy than an ATV, it still boasts an 800cc four-valve engine for maximum power. The two-seater is side-by-side, and the way it's built may give you the impression of small jeep rather than an ATV. But don't fooled, it may only be 2wd, but the Ridge Runner is almost entirely built from ATV parts and can tear up the trails as good as the rest.

With so many options out there, it almost becomes a matter of personal preference. Honda is coming out with their new UTV, Big Red, and with other two-seaters starting to enter the market, the competition is sure to be fierce.
