ATV is short for all-terrain vehicle. It is a four wheeler that looks like a cross between a hefty motor bike and small tractor. These vehicles are immensely popular in racing events. In the same way, they are top picks for performance-based events where skilled riders display various tricks using their vehicle. ATV freestyle refers to such tricks, be it one long elaborate move or a trick that is a combo of several moves.
There are a variety of ATV freestyle tricks utilized by famous riders. Most of the time, these styles are fancy displays of jumps, the wheelie, donuts, and heel clickers. A jump can be a masterful move of a single up ramp run into the air leading to a landing move. It can also be a continuous series of jumps. A wheelie is the balancing act of driving an ATV with its nose in the air. Donuts are basically maneuvering the vehicles in circular motions. The heel clicker is a planned move where the rider lifts his feet away from the vehicle and into air after making his jump.
There are a number of ATV freestyle events out there. The IFMA Freestyle Motocross is a popular event held annually. Another one is the Motocross Sidecar Spectacular held in Australia. Most annual events like these are set in certain locations but other smaller events do tours around the world.
