You may have heard the term “jetting” before and wondered what it meant. What do you think it takes to ride an ATV at a competitive level for an extended period of time out on the track? Riding experience, skills, guts, a bit of insanity? Yes all of those are needed, but more importantly STRENGTH! The laws of physics are against us here. Our machines can weigh from 250 to 400 pounds and our protective equipment approximately another 30, now throw in gravity and inertia...

In my opinion one of the first major modifications you should do to make your quad race ready is suspension. You can have the most built motor in the world but if you cannot get the power to the ground it is pretty much useless. A good place to start for the more moderate racer is a +2” standard travel a-arm kit, with performance shocks or rebuilt stock shocks; as well as a performance...

This includes any type of crash, have it be a spin out, falling off the track, high siding, or the worst being involved in a first turn crash. What I have been seeing is that inexperienced races do not know how to properly crash.&...

There are certain things that are almost must haves when attending a motocross race as a racer. Most riders will have their own personal pre-race rituals that they perform to get focused for the race. Aside from that there are also equipment requirements for both the rider and machine. You know the feeling, you can’t grip the bars anymore, reaching for the clutch lever is almost impossible and every time you hit a bump it just makes it worse. At one point in time every racer and rider alike suffers from arm pump. This condition can take you right of a race in no time. You will slowly start to fade towards the back and riders will start to pass you by as i...

If you ride in a lot of dusty conditions or through tall grass fields then more than likely your foam air filter is getting pretty dirty. The most common mistakes made when cleaning the filter is thinking its ok to clean it in gasoline and not putting oil on the filter after cleaning it. The problem with gasoline is that it breaks down the glue on the filter causing it to deteriorate f...

Riding a motocross track is not for the beginning cyclist. Maybe an average cyclist could make it around the track a couple of times. But if you want to run a motocross race, mixing it up with other cyclists, jumping, sliding, and bumping, then you need to do some serious training.
Motocross training consists of two parts. First, become one with your bike. This is partially having inborn ...

ATVs with sparkling chrome and flashy paint jobs always look awesome, but what's under the hood? Just because an ATV looks high performance doesn't mean that it is. Also, you could have the latest and greatest ATV, but if you don't take care of it properly, it won't win you any races.
One way of guaranteeing that you can win a race is by maximizing the horsepower on your ATV. There are sever...
